Reception is a very important part of any offices, hotels, bars, restaurants and clubs. Normally reception furniture are different for the above industries with variation in the interiors. And anyone can easily spot the difference between the receptions of offices compare to the hotels. All of the above businesses have to receive people from outside and the reception is definitely the first thing their customers/clients are going to see.

Many digital media companies in England have fantastic looking reception area. I went to one recently based in Birmingham, West Midlands, it had a bar with club furniture it was more like a mini bar. So that was the first impression I had of their business and I have to admit I was very impressed. Everyone gets one chance to make a good impression and this company took their chance.

I decided to change the look of my reception inspired from what I saw there but with a bit of a twist. I wanted cafe furniture with the couches you see in many cafes. I also moved the fish tank to my office from the reception and replaced it with a pool table. As we are a law firm we get very tensed and nervous clients and bit of a pool and coffee while they wait certainly helps in building the relationship along with making them feel comfortable. We got really good feedback from our existing clients and we are certainly getting more and more new clients since the new reception has been in place. I also have to say a big thank you to my receptionist as she also helped me with the idea.

Now our reception not only has the basic requirement of desks, chairs and others, it also has a creative and fun side with a pool table. I believed this change will definitely make our clients feel like at home and it certainly has. In a legal profession like ours we have to spend a lot of time in the reception because most of the time our meeting rooms are occupied. Now we can use the reception for our clients and just to add the fun even play a game of pool or two to get the deal on our side – great doing business with you.
