Do You Know What Is The Main Differences Between Harley And Sport Bike Riders?
The top differences of Harley and sport bike riders.
The Progressive Group – the leading US bike insurance seller – revealed certain differences between the Harleys and sport bikes owners.
For instance, their research showed that about 93% of Harley riders wear different clothes with imprinted bike company logo on regular basis. And only 30% of sport bikers do the same. Also, 52% of Harley bikers are into body-art (tattoo or piercing) as compared to 40% of sport bikers. The test also revealed that Harley bikers more often plan their rides close to their favorite food places (32% as compared to 23% of sport bikers). Sport bikers are more likely to save their time having “fast-food” (18% as compared to 6% of Harley riders), on the other hand the Harley riders more often have dinners at restaurants with pretty waitresses (11% over 3% of sport bikers).
“In our Progressive group most of people who deal with bikes are the bikers themselves so we were really intrigued with having the results of this test. It’s kind of fun to know more about bikers as you are” – says Rick Stern, one of the Progressive bike managers and the devoted biker for over 15 years. “See, the bike insurance is a very specific service so you never know what data would lead to this type insurance innovation.”
The research also proved certain common traits of Harley riders and sport bikers. For instance, both named “freedom” as the primary reason for their rides. Though all people think of bikers as of people obsessed with speed only 6% of sport bikers and 1% of Harley riders confessed to purchase their bikes to feel the speed. Both groups named the same reasons to ride at extreme speeds: products/ mail delivery, engine testing and meeting with friends.
It would be also fun to know that 95% of bikers salute each other on the road. The hand waving was more preferred (37%) but Harley riders more often (29%) salute other bikers by pulling 2 fingers down than the sport bikers (16%). Also, the Harley riders tend to salute only those bikers who ride the bike made to the same style as theirs 6 times more often (18%) than the sport bikers (just 3%).
Some other research data:
88% of bikers from time to time either work for free at or donate money to charity foundations. 2/3 of Harley riders and 1/3 of sport bikers annually take part minimum in one charity bike parade or race. 69% of all bikers dream of riding at work every day. 18% of all bikers at least once a year fake their sicknesses to the bosses to get on the wheel. Women are more likely to ride with their husbands or boyfriends and the men prefer to ride in company of their friends. Harley riders (73%) improve the looks of their bikes with various spare parts and accessories. On the other hand, the technical parameters are prevailing for the sport bikers so they do the tuning only with high-tech systems and equipment.
