The New Range Rover Sport

14 March 2010 101 views No Comment

The 2010 is a year of new Range Rover Sport appearance having 375 hp LR-V8 5.0l in regular edition and 510 hp engine with supercharged edition. These engines developed jointly with Jaguar are lighter and more efficient as the new regular Rover accelerates to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds and the supercharged one makes it in 6.0 seconds. Both engines have six-speed automatic transmission.

As to the appearance the 2010 Rover Sport looks like his “elder brothers” but has LED front lights, modified front bumpers and wider fenders at the front and new clusters and revised bumper at the rare side. With its powerful appearance new Rover “feels” the road good enough regardless of the terrains: it is stable on both city roads and outlands.

The new design of cabin accumulates high quality materials to create a feeling of luxurious brand: its fully adjustable seats and soft-touch switches provides the car with great advantages compared to others of the same class. The Rover’s sound quality is also awesome for its Harmon Kardon sound system with 14 independent speakers and of 480 watts produces a real 3-D surround effect. The system amplifier is controlled digitally.

The driver is able to get various information as suspension settings, hill control, and gear ratio and speed settings at new TFT LCD driver’s panel. All information is displayed so clearly that the driver has now problems with reading it.

As Range Rover was always know for it’s out landing skills the constructors of 2010 Rover Sport took a step forward and equipped the vehicle with the new traction control system that allows the driver to choose the type of traction depending on the type of terrain thus enabling the car to easily crawl over the rocks and preventing the wheels from digging into the sand.

The Integrated Body Frame chassis allows the car to easily ride off-road and at the same time be a maneuverable one on-road. When driving the new V8 engine works smoothly without excessive noise at the same time providing a good acceleration. The only thing that even with regular 375 hp engine (think of the supercharged edition) you would be able to pass only 8 kilometers per 1 liter of gas. So, over the long drives you would probably need to make frequents stops at gas stations to refuel your vehicle. Still, it remains a good cruiser for Rover’s gearing is good, the engine power is enough to easily pass by the slow going vehicles and steering response is modified enough for driver to feel his involvement at high speeds.

Overall, after testing the car we can state the following. The 2010 Range Rover Sport with its new powerful engine, luxurious interior and exterior creates a good competition to all existing cruisers. And adding the new traction control system and virtual TFT LCD driver information panel you might consider the car is a good buy for yours and your family members’ needs.
